Bengaluru emerges transit route for drug to Australia

 BENGALURU:  Bengaluru is emerging as the transit route for the banned precursor psychotropic drug pseudoephedrine from South India to Australia.“During the lockdown, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Bengaluru, alone had seized over 25 kg of pseudoephedrine, which was being smuggled out from the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) to Australia through courier consignments,” said sources in the DRI.

Australia to be part of Malabar exercise

 India on Monday announced that Australia will join the upcoming Malabar exercise which effectively means that all the four member countries of the ‘Quad’ or Quadrilateral coalition will be participating in the mega drill.

Australia will finally rejoin Malabar exercise, add muscle to Quad & send message to China

 After 13 years of dilly-dallying, Australia will finally rejoin the trilateral Malabar maritime exercise that includes India, Japan and the US and is set to take place later next month, ThePrint has learnt.


The decision was firmed up at the last informal meeting of the Quad countries — US, Japan, Australia and India — that took place in Tokyo on 6 October, diplomatic and defence sources told ThePrint.

Australia to join Malabar naval exercise next month

 Amid the ongoing stand-off with China in eastern Ladakh, the Ministry of Defence on Monday announced that Australia would join the Malabar 2020 naval exercise, consisting of India, Japan and the U.S., to be held next month, more than three years after Australia first requested to join.

“As India seeks to increase cooperation with other countries in the maritime security domain and in the light of increased defence cooperation with Australia, Malabar 2020 will see the participation of the Australian Navy,” the Ministry said in a statement.
