“We’ll fight them in the mangroves!” Council declares war on Gold Coast mozzies

 The Gold Coast is changing tactics on the mozzie war this year, attempting to ‘kill them dead’ earlier in the season.

Spraying has begun in the northern suburbs this week, particularly around the Pimpama area.

Mayor Tom Tate says this is a good time to nip the problem in the bud.

Bicyclist suffers head, leg and arm injuries in nasty Gold Coast crash

 A bike rider’s been hospitalised with multiple injuries after coming off his bike on the Gold Coast this morning.

Emergency services were called to Guineas Creek Road and Aethalia Street around 5.30 am following reports of the crash.

A man was briefly assessed at the scene for abrasions to his leg, arm and head.

Blood donors urgently needed across Gold Coast, Qld

 Gold Coasters are being urged to roll up their sleeves for a different reason today, with the Red Cross once again in need of blood donations.

An extra 1,500 Queenslanders are needed to donate blood over the next fortnight to ensure stocks don’t dip to critical levels.

It comes as lockdowns lift in Victoria, New South Wales and the ACT, meaning a return to surgeries that will require more blood supply.
