Shark nets will be removed from all Gold Coast beaches today, as the city braces for wild weather.
Extremely strong winds of up to 70km/h, huge swell and up to 40mm of unseasonal rain are expected to lash our coastline across the weekend and into next week.
It’s prompted Fisheries Queensland to pull shark nets from waters, however, drumlines will remain in place.
Shark Control Program Operations Coordinator Sam Fary says removing the equipment is normal practice when rough weather is predicted.
